Pirates Alley

When the original plot was laid out for New Orleans, there were two passageways running along each side of St. Louis Cathedral that sits behind Jackson Square. Built as a quick way to get from Jackson Square to Royal Street, the alley to the left of the church and next to the Cabildo, is nicknamed "Pirates Alley." Pirates Alley has inspired city folklore which includes the likes of General Andrew Jackson, legendary pirate Jean Lafitte, and 1920’s writer William Faulkner. These socks are inspired by many a midnight rum-filled walk through this historic shortcut.
